This month’s Netflix Addiction recommendation is…
ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK
DON’T FORGET, SEASON FIVE IS OUT ON THE 9th JUNE!
Woah mamma, if the last episode of season 4 didn’t grip you, then you need a test of some sort, CAT scan possibly. That last episode is when the shit hits the fan and I for one cannot wait to find out what happens! AHHHH! I won’t spoil you as long you promise to go watch all of the previous seasons and then come back here.
So, lemme give you a bit of background here. Our main character is Piper Kerman, who is, in fact, a real woman and the entire program is based on her experiences in a women’s prison. She even wrote a memoir about it which you can find out about here.
Okay, season 1 is where Piper is navigating prison life; the ups and downs, friendships and fallouts and routines and recklessness. We meet a whole host of characters which I think is amazing because at least everyone is represented and everyone has someone to relate to when watching. We see a variety of different races, sexualities, genders and ages. Some of my fave characters include Red, Taystee, Dayanara and Pensatucky.
I won’t talk too much about the different things that go on in each season because I really do not want to spoil anyone, you need to watch it for yourselves! We do see a lot about the treatment of women in prison, drug use and bent law enforcement so if that doesn’t make you want to watch, I don’t know what will!
As I hinted at before, season 4 really does turn things up a notch and we see a nasty side to near enough all of the characters. There are majorly shocking events that take place that you really will not believe and they will leave you in tears. That final 30 seconds of the last episode will leave you reeling and desperately wanting Season 5, which lucky for you is out on the 9th of June. DO NOT MISS THIS EPIC PROGRAM.
