Top 5 Wednesday is set up by the lovely Lainey at GingerReadsLainey if you want to pop over and have a look at her channel. This meme is being looked after by Sam at Thoughts on Tomes. Let’s have a look at the topic for today!

Favourite LGBT+ Reads

5) More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera

This is most probably on most people’s lists as it is a highly popular YA read. I won’t tell you much in case I ruin it so go read it for yourself!

4) Girl Hearts Girl by Lucy Sutcliffe

This is a memoir of Lucy Sutcliffe and her coming out story. It’s really good to read a book that you know will help so many people with self-acceptance and also know that the author is an Own Voices author.

3) Only We Know by Simon Packham

This book is really interesting with its conclusion, in a way where you don’t see it until the very end. I would highly recommend this read and again will not reveal too much about it in case I spoil you.

2) This Book is Gay by Juno Dawson

This is a non-fiction book about everything an LGBT+ person needs to know, and even straight people too. I am straight and really took a lot from this book in terms of understanding and I tell ya, I learned a hell of a lot about different sexualities!

1)  The Color Purple by Alice Walker

This book is not strictly an LGBT+ read as it explores so many other areas too. However, there is a lesbian relationship in this book that is KEY to the main character’s development. I would go as far as to say that it is liberating relationship and one that everyone needs to read about!
