TUESDAY TALKS: Do you always read books before the movies?

Tuesday Talks

Don’t forget that you can find previous Tuesday Talks posts right here.

This is set up by the wonderful Janie over at Bookworms Buddy, and Janelle at MrsJRodsReads. This really segment is, as the name implies, a talk each Tuesday about a book-related topic.

And this week’s topic is:

Do you always read the books before the movies?

As a rule, I do read the book before watching the film. It’s just tradition and you have a better grasp on the concept before you watch it. It is easier said than done though sometimes because you just can’t wait to see that film and then bam you end up watching before reading.

One book I did this with was Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I absolutely wrecked the book for myself because the film was so close to the book that I was bored whilst reading it because I knew exactly what would happen. Normally there are loads of things in a book that aren’t featured in the film but with Me Before You it was literally the exact same thing.

I won’t make the same mistake again so I try to stick to a strict rule of reading the book first and I CANNOT watch the film first.

What about you?
