Title: The 5th Wave

Author: Rick Yancey

Release Date: 7th of May, 2013

Publisher: Penguin

Pages: 457 pages

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother-or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

Here was my initial review on goodreads:

Overall feelings:
My overall feelings after reading this book are…

WHAT THE FUCK?! This book made my brain hurt because it is such a whirlwind of action and drama. I have to admit there are a few slow parts where you feel like it needs to pick up the pace, but in general this book is action, action, ACTION! The ending just makes you want to read on and pick up the next book there and then! I am not a sci-fi fan and haven’t really ventured much into the genre, but this book felt like a breakthrough for me. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to breach into the sci-fi genre!
