TOP 5 WEDNESDAY: Favourite Diverse Characters

Top 5 Wednesday is set up by the lovely Lainey at GingerReadsLainey if you want to pop over and have a look at her channel. Let’s have a look at the topic for today!

Favourite Diverse Characters

5) Maddie from Everything, Everything
Maddie is a character who is so unique that I don’t think you would read any other book like this. She cannot leave the house because she is allergic to EVERYTHING! This is such a diverse disease and is so interesting to read about.

4) Mukta from The Color of Our Sky
Again, it’s great to read about a different part of the World than usual. This book is set in India, where there is a diverse culture. It was heart breaking to read in some parts but it truly opened my eyes to diversity and how some people live their lives.

3) Scout from To Kill A Mockingbird
Scout is diverse in many ways. She is from the deep south of America, in which the people have an amazing accent y’all. Also, she isn’t your stereotypical girl, she’s a tomboy who is genuinely herself.

2) Lumikki Andersson from the As Red As Blood Trilogy
I loved reading this series because it’s set in a different country than the usual! I normally read books set in the UK or USA but never in other European countries. To read about Finland and Prague is just so eye opening and refreshing to read about.

1) Linh Cinder from The Lunar Chronicles

I really love this character because she is totally diverse! I mean cmon, a cyborg if you please? How cool?! If you haven’t read The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer yet…DO IT! Before Winter arrives in November!
WOO! That was this week’s Top 5 Wednesday, stay tuned for next week’s!
